Welcome to Halifax and Huddersfield IVC
Social and Activities Club!

  • Have you moved to our area and want to make new friends?

  • Do you want to meet new people outside work?

  • Do you want to kick start your social life, try new activities?

  • IVC could be for you!

Our Members

We are a group of around 100 members, with a reputation for friendliness.  We have a mix of long-term and recently joined members so you should quickly be made welcome and feel part of the group, without thinking you're the only 'newbie'!

We are not a 'singles' club.  Many members are unattached, but couples are welcome too.  Some of our members are working, others retired.  Having an open mind and wanting to make friends is what the club is about

Our Activities

We don't have a panel of organisers to plan our activities - we rely on all our members to organise events to be enjoyed by other members, so if you have any ideas of things you'd like to do, please share!  Events are added by members to an online diary and the programme is circulated on a monthly basis (or you can check the online calendar).

The Wider Organisation

We are part of the national Association of IVC's (AIVC) which links over 30 similar clubs and around 2000 people around the country.  Many events are shared between clubs and listed on the national website (aivc.org.uk).  We also frequently arrange joint events with our neighbouring clubs in Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield.  Members from many clubs come together each year for our AGM, which is hosted by an IVC group and which includes a programme of visits and social activities.

Our roots are well established; the first IVC, in London, was formally constituted in 1947, with our own group being formed in 1977 as an offshoot from Leeds IVC.  We are not a 'here today, gone tomorrow' organisation!
